Centre Pompidou, Jean Prouv
é La Maison Tropicale (Paris: Centre Pompidou, 2009)

This book looks at Jean Prouvé's early prefabricated housing that led to Maison Tropicale.  The book then shows the progression of the design of Maison Tropicale a through series of plan, section, elevation and perspective drawings.  Narration accompanies the images, which explains the process of Prouvé's designs as well as the circumstance of the projects he did and how he got them.  The images were particularly useful for this case study because they clearly represented Prouvé's parti for Maison Tropicale and the morphology.  The images were also useful as graphics for the presentation.

Éric Touchaleaume # Galerie 54, Jean Prouvé # Les Maisons Tropicales (Paris: Éric Touchaleaume # Galerie 54, 2006)

This book is primarily graphic, focusing on the technical drawings and sketches for Maison Tropicale, in each location that it has been constructed (Paris, Niamey & Brazzaville).  The second part to this book is a gallery of images showing the reconstruction of Maison Tropicale from Brazzaville in Paris.  This book is useful for producing drawing sets for Maison Tropicale, however, the drawings often lack proper labels and are not in order, making it more difficult to understand the relationship between the plans, sections and elevations.  The drawings were also useful in understanding the fundamental components that were consistent in all Maison Tropicales that were constructed in order to create drawings for what could be considered an ideal Maison Tropicale.

O'Day, Kathleen. “Tropical or Colonial? A Reception History of Jean Prouvé's Prefabricated Houses For Africa.” Thesis, Louisiana State University and Art College, 2009.

This thesis discusses Jean Prouvé's early influences and how owning his own shop and being involved in the fabrication of his designs affected them.  This thesis also provided information about the role Aluminum Français played in Jean Prouvé's designs.  This information was useful in understanding how Prouvé was influenced by his father and Le Corbusier.  As well, it was useful in understanding the relationship between Prouvé and Aluminum Français, and how it ultimately led to the sale of Atelier de Jean Prouvé.
